Denisha Williams, Project Manager and Landscape Architect for Abel Bainnson Butz, LLP, 2009
Citi Field, the home of the New York Mets baseball team, was completed in 2009, replacing the former Shea Stadium facility. Abel Bainnson Butz, LLP (ABB) served as a sub-consultant to Jack L. Gordon Architects on the design of the plaza, parking, perimeter, and garden areas.
As an ABB staff member, Denisha Williams produced planting designs for the foreground garden near the main subway entrance, as well as plaza planters and planting beds. She also provided oversight of the planting installation for these areas, which were completed just in time for the opening of the 2009 Major League baseball season. Due to the early spring opening date, acceptable plant availability was a major challenge and necessitated extensive planting substitutions and agile redesign under tight time frames.
